SANJEEV RAJPAL, MD – Medical Director

A fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Rajpal has performed laparoscopic surgery for many years. He was the first surgeon to perform laparoscopic gallbladder surgery in Brooklyn. His expertise as a surgeon has influenced many of Brookdale’s residents to specialize in laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Rajpal is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, The American Society of Abdominal Surgeons and the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons, among others.

RAVI K. KOTHURU, MD

Dr. Kothuru received his Medical Degree from the Guntur Medical College in India and completed his Surgical Residency at Brookdale. In 2000 Dr. Kothuru received a prestigious award from the Society of Laparoscopic Surgery.

SYED IMRAN AHMED, MD

Dr. Ahmed received his Medical Degree from the Liaquat Medical College in Sind Pakistan. He completed his Surgical Residency at Brookdale and a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Assisted Surgery at the University of Nebraska.

PREM PATEL, MD

After receiving his Medical Degree as a Master of Surgery from the University of Jabalpur in India, Dr. Patel completed his residency at Brookdale acquiring extensive experience in Laparoscopic Surgery. He is Director of the Surgical Residency Program at Brookdale..

JEANESE BARRITEAU, RN, CBN, MSA

Ms. Barriteau has been the Clinical Coordinator of the Bariatric Surgical Unit since its inception in 2001 and is a Bariatric Nurse specialist. She is responsible for the highly skilled, compassionate nursing staff on the Unit. She is also the Coordinator of the Bariatric Support Group.

GINA TASCO – ADMINISTRATOR

Gina Tasco has been a successful Hospital Administrator for the past 17 years. Ms. Tasco has had a special interest in Bariatric Medicine and has worked towards building a "Bariatric friendly " environment both in the office and at the hospital. These efforts have been proven by the recent acknowledgement of acquiring, The Center of Excellence status, by The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery - " Surgical Review Corporation". She has taken her extensive administrative skills and combined them with the help of a strong and experienced multidisciplinary medical team to create a comprehensive program.
